ABSTRACT
The rapid changing of the society, the massive loss of
biodiversity, the pollution of ecosystems, the violation of natural cycles and
depletion of resources, have a strong influence not only on human beings but
also on other living creatures and their living environments. From a holistic
perspective of salvation preached by the Evangelical Church of Cameroon, there
is an urgent need for a redeployment of the latter in all sectors of life,
especially in the ecological sector.
When we look at the commitment of civil society to tackle the
ecological crisis, the ECC is still slow to commit itself fully to the
struggle, merely creating a department responsible for the ecological issue
without specification.
We asked ourselves if with these efforts the struggle that the
ECC is leading can be effective. To answer this question we have made a work
subdivided into three parts:
The first part is a brief history of the mission, an overview
of the missionary challenges and a brief presentation of the ECC which is our
target church. Here, as the field of study demands, it is necessary to revisit
the history of missions with the general challenges that present themselves in
the field of mission at today.
In the second part, it is a question of doing a checkup of the
ecological crisis, starting from its biblical foundations to lead to the
causes, the consequences and the responsible ones. This section also allows us
to see the impact of ecological crisis on land, sea and air.
In the third part, it concerns the stakes and challenges that
await the Evangelical Church of Cameroon in the safeguarding of creation. The
ECC must review the role of the Commission for Environmental Preservation with
a greater and greater presence on the ground in the fight against the
ecological crisis.
