Abstract
Contribution of Foreign Direct Investment to
Sustainable Development:
Case of Côte D'Ivoire
Less developed countries want take advantage of the rapid
increasing of Foreign Development Index (FDI) since 1990, induced by the
international financial globalization. Recent evolutions of development's
theories comfort their strategy. This study is a contribution to the exiting
debate about the effect FDI could have in conception and implementation of
Côte d'Ivoire's sustainable development. We analyze the consequences of
the interactions between FDI flow and sustainable development indicated by
Human Development Index (HDI). For the econometric techniques, we use Vector
Error Correction approach and causality test of Granger applied to data
collected from several national and international sources. Before, we try
stationary test with Dickey Fuller and Philipp-Perron unit root test. The
results of the study indicate that, in the long-run, FDI are benefic for
sustainable development of Côte d'Ivoire because of its positive effects
on human development Index.
