ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the post-mortem diagnosis of pathologies
of the genital tract in ewes. The sample of the analyzed matrices was collected
at the Eucalyptus slaughterhouse, in the wilaya of Algiers, during a period of
3 months, from April 1 to June 30, 2021. In addition to the diagnosis of
pathologies, this work has also for objective the enumeration and the
estimation of the frequency of the various affections.
To this end, we have adopted a methodology which revolves
around a macroscopic diagnosis of the matrices and a microscopic diagnosis on
histological sections.
Macroscopic diagnosis revealed that out of a total of 269
matrices examined, 34 (14%) presented pathological lesions on different parts
of the female genital tract. Pathologies of the uterus were the most frequent
with a rate of 76.47%, followed by pathologies of the oviduct (11.76%), then
congenital pathologies which recorded a rate of 8.82% and finally, pathologies
of the ovary with a rate of 2.94%.
In addition, microscopic observation made it possible to
confirm these pathologies suspected during visual examination and to describe
the lesions on a microscopic scale.
Finally, the results collected demonstrated a strong
correlation between the pathologies encountered in post-mortem and the impact
on female reproduction.
