ABSTRACT
The management of the household
wastes in the town of Bertoua as in several African cities is facing enormous
difficulties. With the aim of increase the production by the use of the
agricultural inputs, our study entitled: «the treatment of the household
waste urban and péri-urban agriculture in the town of Bertoua»
proposes to establish a link between the wastes and agriculture. The object of
this study is to see in who the treatment of the wastes can contribute to the
development of agriculture and to spur up the engagement of all the
stakeholders of these activities. The main question of the research is: how can
bring the populations and the other stakeholders to be led envisage the
treatment of wastes with the aim of developing agriculture? As a response to
this question, the treatment of wastes for the development of agriculture
passes via the participation of the populations in the activities of recovery,
valorisation and vulgarisation of the compost-making technique. The
data-collection was done using the documentary research, the direct
observation, the question distributed to 200 homes of the five selected
neighborhood of Bertoua and the interviews with out the divisional authorities
of the MINDUH, the MINEPN, the MINADER and some rural councils of Bertoua. The
analysis of the results obtained indicates that the populations are not much
involved in the process of waste management on the one hand and that there is
the absence of a synergy in the actions carried on the other each evolving
individually. Furthermore, the populations do not know all the techniques of
treatment of household wastes, such as spreading and compost making. This
explains the low use of organic manures. Moreover, the populations practice
more the incineration and storage of the household waste. These results
substantially confirm our research hypothesis. For an improvement of the
participation of the population and vulgarization of compost making techniques,
some suggestions were have been advanced to the administrative authorities, the
local decentralised collectivities, the organs in charge with the collection
waste. From all these suggestions, we operationalised that directed to the
administrative authorities so as attract the contributions of the various
stakeholders of household waste management, through the advocacy technique
(plea).
Key words: treatment, recovery,
valorisation, household waste, urban and semi-urban agriculture, compost,
