ABSTRACT
The objective of our work is to study the antithyrotoxic effect
of both sorts (species) of local and Chinese Allium sativum to the
rabbits of the local origin (stump) (Oryctolagus cuniculus
domesticus).
The study was made on 20 male rabbits distributed in 4 groups of
5 individuals each, a group witness (baton), 3 groups made patients by
intraperitonéal injection of sodic L-thyroxin at the rate of 200 ug / kg
of the physical weight, among which 2 groups are treated (handled) by the oral
administration of the extract of every sort (species) of garlic separately for
reason 500mg / kg of the physical weight.
After 21 days of treatment, rabbits are sacrificed, and the
various parameters are determined.
From the obtained results, we observed a fall of the physical
weight to the sick rabbits further to a very clear disturbance of the
metabolism after the injection of the thyroxin. It is translated by a
hyperglycemia, a hypocholesterol level with a highly significant increase of
the plasmatic content in total lipids, on the other hand the concentration in
total proteins decreased.
Concerning the hepatic enzymes, we noticed an increase of the
enzymatic activity of transaminases, as well as ALP, which comes along with a
rise of the relative weight of the liver.
Furthermore, the injection of the thyroxin showed a decrease of
the relative weight of the thyroid gland further to an inhibition of its
function (office).
Besides, the treatment of the sick rabbits by the homogenate of
garlic in particular the local sort (species), restored the values of certain
blood parameters in the standards.
The phytochemical study showed the wealth of garlic especially of
the local sort of secondary metabolites (saponosides, flavonoïdes,
terpenes and sterols) which confers it its pharmacological properties.
Key words: Allium sativum, thyroxin, thyroid,
biochemical parameters, rabbit.
